PROPERTY DEVELOPER MOVES TO ITS OWN BUSINESS PARK

A Yorkshire property development and investment company has backed its plans to develop a o60 million business park in York by moving its own business operation to the 40-acre site. The Helmsley Group, which is part way through the phased development of Monks Cross North business park on York's outer ring road, has moved to 3,500 sq ft premises within the Omega office complex. The Helmsley Group has moved its 15-strong team from Pocklington after 25 years in the East Yorkshire market town. Chairman John Reeves says: "We had outgrown our previous premises, which had originally been a private residence but had been converted into office space. As the company had grown we needed more modern, better planned and more spacious business premises. We are developing Monks Cross North business park on behalf of our investment clients and have taken the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to York and to the business park by acquiring new office space for ourselves." More than 150,000 sq ft of office space has already been developed at Monks Cross North and a planning application for the next 39,000 sq ft phase has just been submitted. Current occupiers include Norwich Union Life, Garbutt and Elliott and Scarborough Property Group. Monks Cross North benefits from on-site car parking, excellent transport links to the city and to the region's motorway network, and good amenities on its doorstep including Monks Cross Shopping Park and the Park & Ride. John Reeves adds: "It is the excellent location, high quality accommodation and good facilities that are attracting business occupiers and commercial buy-to-let investors to the site. We are convinced of its benefits and its potential and have put our money where our mouth is by making this move."
